From the Heritage Rescuer
Surjit Singh
Heritage Conservator & Founder
As a heritage conservator, I have spent more than a decade studying how artworks, manuscripts, and cultural objects age, deteriorate, and survive over time.
During this journey, I observed that many beautifully written manuscripts fail not because of poor calligraphy, but because of unsuitable materials, unstable inks, weak construction methods, or improper storage.
Archival Calligraphy was established to share conservation knowledge with the calligraphy community and to empower creators to make informed decisions about every stage of manuscript creation.
My vision is to bring together the timeless art of Gurmukhi calligraphy and the science of preservation so that the manuscripts we create today can become the heritage of tomorrow.
ConservEdu Enterprises — Since 2007
ConservEdu Enterprises, founded by Surjit Singh, is dedicated to preserving rare manuscripts and sacred texts through a blend of traditional Indian techniques and modern conservation science. Since 2007, the journey began with a deeply spiritual encounter with the sacred Guru Granth Sahib Ji housed in the library of Panjab University, Chandigarh — a moment that marked the start of a lifelong commitment to preserving Sikh heritage and rare manuscripts.
What started as a personal quest evolved into a professional path grounded in both spiritual devotion and scientific curiosity, guided by the blessings of Shri Waheguru Ji and the spiritual guidance of Sant Baba Narinder Singh Ji and Sant Baba Balwinder Singh Ji, Hajoor Sahib Wale. Over the years, the organization has worked with libraries, institutions, private collectors, and spiritual centres — bringing together the worlds of faith, heritage, and science.
From Punjab to international platforms in the United Kingdom, Denmark, and Russia, ConservEdu Enterprises shares knowledge on Gurmukhi inks and binding techniques, offering both hands-on restoration and educational outreach to conserve the past and inspire the future.
